100 hz 12 Sided conical horn

A customer of mine recently requested that I design him a 12 sided conical horn that could perform down to 100hz. I enjoy new challenges, so--in my spare time--I jumped on this assignment.

Prominent features included four, 8 inch B&C 8PE21 drivers. and a phase plug to create a singular throat. Of course, the horn must be conical--customer's personal preference--and 12 sided for ease of construction. The picture above is the final result of my customer's dedication to creating a work of art.

Hornresp offered the projected performance, above, and the final performance is shown below. My customer enjoys the sound, in fact, LOVE is his verb choice. The horn is solid from 90hz to 700hz, with a bit of a rise at 100hz and 240hz. the lighter green line is the phase.

You can see the driver layout, below, and the means by which the sound waves are directed into the throat of the horn. Of course, the sound waves must be guided down the horn with the use of a large phase plug, which you can see in the photo below this.

I also designed a 300 hz conical midrange horn, which he executed beautifully (below).
